Kingston College and Holmwood Score big at Boys & Girls Champs

Kingston College (KC) scored a runaway victory for the boys' crown, while Holmwood Technical were pushed the line as both schools retained their respective title at the VMBS Boys' and Girls' Athletics Championships, which concluded at the National Stadium on Saturday night.

The final points tally saw KC ending with 198 points, 54.5 points better than nearest rivals St. Jago (143.5), Wolmer's (143), Calabar (140), Jamaica College (101.5), Camperdown (70), Holmwood (69), Bridgeport (55), Herbert Morrison (51) and Mannings (47).

On the girls' side Holmwood, who ended Saturday night with 269 points which at that time was sure to give them the title, returned for one race yesterday, the 400m hurdles to pick up another four points with Nyoka Cole placing fifth, thus taking their tally to 274 points.

Highly-touted Vere (256) and St. Jago (196.5) were relegated to second and third respectively. Edwin Allen (192), Manchester (149), St. Andrew High (133), Wolmer's (86.5), Alpha (81), Immaculate (62) and The Queens School (61).
