FROM OUR PRESIDENT-2016

Sarah Vaughan

Dear Queen’s Alumnae,

2016 is here!  We welcome a new year filled with challenges and opportunities for us as individuals and as a group.  As I begin my tenure as the new president of our wonderful organization I must say a very big “thank you,” to the outgoing executive for its leadership and tenacity and congratulate all our members and friends for their ongoing support and dedication.

As we look back on our past 15 years of existence, QAAC celebrates our many and varied contributions to our alma mater; from our annual support of the CXC Exam fund and the ever-increasing needs of the Welfare Fund, to the special projects – fans in the classrooms and computers in the lab – we have worked very hard and have much of which to be proud.  The impact we have had on the students and the school cannot be denied and our chapter has been praised by the headmistress as one of the most active in supporting the school.

Looking ahead, it is my hope that we will give some attention in the coming months to the growth and development of our members by seeking to increase participation from the wider Queen’s community.  This participation is vital if the chapter is to continue to be effective.  Our founding vision was for the organization to be a resource for the school and for each other and even as we continue our efforts to be of assistance to the school, we hope to put special emphasis on the other part of that equation – the support of our members as individuals and in their businesses and organizations.

Please join me as we join our hands and hearts in assisting The Queen’s School to meet the challenges of this new millennium.  The staff at the school point proudly to improved test scores and the outstanding achievements of the current students in debate, netball, School’s Challenge, soccer and so much more.  Please show your support with your attendance at the upcoming Annual General Meeting, downtown Atlanta on Saturday, March 5 at 4pm at the PNC Bank, 1075 Peachtree Street, NE, Suite 1800, Atlanta, GA 30309.

With your dedicated support the Queen’s Alumnae Atlanta Chapter (QAAC) will help ensure that Queen’s girls will continue to flourish in virtue and wisdom for years to come.

See you soon!

Sarah Vaughan
