Election of new officers for Queen’s Alumnae Atlanta Chapter 2019-2020

It is that time of year to start thinking about running or nominating someone for the open offices for QAAC.  All positions – President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary – are open this year. Please note that the Bylaws do not allow the current slate of officers to continue in these positions – 3 years is the maximum time mandated.

Officers will be elected in December 2018 and their term will begin in January 2019.

Nominations are now open for:

  1. President
  2. Vice President
  3. Treasurer
  4. Secretary

The eligibility requirements and job descriptions are included below:    

  • Members can nominate another member with their consent. Member can also make a self-nomination. Both nominated and nominating members need to be a member in good standing.  Member in good standing means those who have paid their membership dues.
  • Members who do not reside in the State of Georgia shall be deemed affiliate members upon payment of annual dues. Affiliate members shall not be eligible to hold office, but may vote on chapter business and in annual elections.

President

The president shall preside at all meetings of the members. She shall have the general management of the affairs of the Chapter and shall see that all orders and resolutions of the Chapter are carried into effect. She shall, with the Treasurer or designee appointed by the membership, sign all written contracts or other financial obligations of the Chapter authorized by the membership. She shall promulgate the By-laws of the Chapter. She shall represent the Chapter at all external community meetings, or appoint a designee for same.  She shall make a full report of the administration of the office and the business of the Chapter to the entire membership at the monthly meetings.

Vice-President

During the absence or disability of the President, the Vice-President, shall have all the powers and functions of the President. The Vice-President shall perform such other duties, as the membership shall prescribe.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall have the care and custody of all the funds and securities of the Chapter, and shall deposit said funds in the name of the Chapter in such bank or trust company as the membership may elect. She shall, when duly authorized by the members sign and execute all contracts in the name of the Chapter, when countersigned by the President. She shall also sign all checks, drafts, notes and orders for the payment of money which shall be duly authorized and voted upon by the membership and shall be countersigned by the President. She shall at all reasonable times exhibit the books and accounts to member of the Chapter at any monthly Chapter meeting or upon application to the president or secretary of the Chapter. She shall present an annual report setting forth in full, the financial conditions of the Chapter.

Secretary

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the members. She shall attend to the giving and serving of all notices of the Chapter, and shall have the charge of such books and papers as the members may direct. She shall attend to such correspondence as may be assigned to her and perform all the duties incidental to her office. She shall keep a membership roll containing the names, alphabetically arranged, of all persons who are members of the Chapter.
